Whitetails Unlimited Gray Laminate Ultra Slug Hunter
« on: September 07, 2007, 02:45:11 AM »
I just won/bought this off Gunbroker.  Have you guys ever seen one like it?  I think I paid to much for it ($350), but I like it so o-well.  What do ya'll think.  It has a Bushnell trophy 3x9x40 on it that will be coming off as soon as I get it and be replaced by a Nikon slughunter scope.
This is the day that the Lord hath made!!  I will rejoice and be glad in it!!

Very nice!

What's most important is that you like the gun. Once you get it, if it meets your expectations, then enjoy it and don't look back.   :D

Congrats, that's very nice, the gray lams are hard to find, I've got 2 sets of the checkered versions, wouldn't part with them for anything. It's worth whatever a person is willing to pay since the stock set is no longer made. ;)

I removed your scope offer, it violated GBO rules, selling/trading in forums is prohibited, please post it in the main classifieds or in the NEF classifieds only if you want to trade for an NEF item.

Fine lookin' gun. I've got a set of gray lams just waiting for a 20ga ultra project I've had in mind for some time now. I guess I won't be the only one with gray lams on a slug gun after all. Who cares what it costs if you are happy with the deal.

I was searching the net looking for gray laminated stock just to see how rare they are.  Not alot of them around from what I could tell.  I did see a NEF 410 on gunbroker with them for sell.

Update:  The USH is at the gunsmith getting flutted, teflon coated, trigger worked, and limbsaver padded.  Will post picts and weight when it comes back home.  I hunted 4 days straight 10 hrs a day in the snow and rain and the barrell started rusting.  The weight of this thing also got to me more than I thought it would so off to the gunsmith it went.

How did you do hunting?  I got a nice 4 point buck on opening day with my 20ga USH.  It has the plain pallet wood stocks, I have a couple other stock sets that I may swap out on it.

Had a great trip from middle Georgia to Brown County Illinois (12 hr drive).  Hunted hard (daylight to dark) for four days.  Saw a few deer, but not "the one" I was after.  Still had a great time with some good friends.  Can't wait to go back.  Learned about the hundreds of thousands acres of public hunting lands available and might try that in the years to come to save the big money the outfitters charge.

Welcome to the Land of Lincoln and big whitetails.  You were about 2 hours southwest of me.  There are some big deer in that part of the state.

"A thing of beauty is a joy forever".  My friends with the USH really like them too, and report very good accuracy. I hope you'll  give a range report and tell how well it shoots.

I'm saving up for a Leupold vx3 3x10x50 boone and crocket scope to put on it.  I had a nikon 2x7x33 on it before I sent it to the gunsmith for the work and had taken it to the range several times.  It would shoot cut holes at 50 yards and about a 1" 3-shot groups at 100 yards.  It opened up to about 3.5" at 150 yards for a 3 shot group.  The fluting, teflon finish, trigger job, and the limbsaver cost me a total of $350.

That fluting job looks great !  I think I understand why you started the flutes where you did due to the forend screw . Right?
How much weight do you think you cut out  from the original barrel ?

why can't I see the picture?
Be honest with yourself.  Can you guarantee you would hit a paper plate at 250 yards...100 yards...50 yards?  Then you have no business replacing the plate with a live animal.

There's a software glitch that happened during the transition to the new server, Matt's working on it and the missing Avatar issue.
