My 10-22 Project
« on: September 07, 2007, 10:44:17 AM »
It started life as a regular old carbine.  I added a delux walnut stock from gunbroker.com, an Uncle Mike's leather sling from the junk box at our local pawn shop, a set of old 1960s era Weaver Tip-offs that I manage to salvage by chasing the threads with some new replacement allen screws, and a 4X IR Barska scope left over from another project.  It shoots CCI CB Longs into one hole at 25 yards.  Not real fancy, but it's a lot of fun and quite as a mouse.  I need to lighten the trigger.

Has anyone here ever installed a power custom hammer kit?

Yep, and it makes that clunky trigger pretty nice. Drill and tap the trigger guard for an allen screw for a trigger stop and it's even better. I used a 1/2" 8-32 stainless screw and ground it the right length so it was flush with the back of the trigger guard. I am building another 10/22 and it will have the hammer kit. The shims are kind of a pain to put in, other than that it is pretty easy to install.

I have a 10-22 T.  What are you doing for a trigger job?  Do you need to replace the hammer?

I've used one PC hammer kit,but I've used 6 VQ kits.Like them alot better.Seems to me they make the trigger smoother.I also polish them before installation. All my triggers are down in the 2#even range.Slow

I used my 10-22 to make this squirrel stew.  All my camping stuff comes from junk shops and department stores.  Stew was one squirrel, one small potato, a few baby carrots, a little onion, a little celery, 2 chicken bullion cubes, and some black pepper.

I looked at Midway.  They have a Clark trigger.  Are you using a Valquartsen(sp)?
