T/C HAWKEN WILLIAMS FP RECEIVER SIGHT INSTALLATION QUESTION
« on: September 07, 2007, 01:45:51 PM »
 ???

I just picked up a Williams FP Receiver sight for one of my T/C Hawkens (Williams has great customer service by the way)

My question is when installing it...

Which mounting hole on the sight do you line up with which mounting hole on the receiver ?

Front hole to front hole or rear to rear?

I know I have to tap a hole in the middle of the tang, but that will take care of itself when I know which of the existing holes to use.

Also I bought a set of the larger adjustment knobs, and cant figure out how to get the original screws to come all the way out :P

I'm not "totally" mechanically inept, close maybe. I removed all the set screws before I tried removing the windage and elevation screws but no luck..Apparently the people at Williams who can explain this leave at 3:00 pm. EST and I wanted to get this set up this weekend.

Any advice is greatly appreciated !!!

Eric

As to which one . Set it up on you barrel  with the sight aligned to the hole that will bring it closest to you . If the sight picture is burred then move it to the next  alignment that will be just a little further away. This would be  using the same mounting hole in your barrel  but the back hole in the sight .

IF its still not clear then move  to the next hole in the barrel  and try the front hole in the sight   .

Depending on your eyesight  the sight itself  has to be moved closer or farther way from your eye .
Williams also has a good peep sight that mounts to the tang .

As to the knobs . that’s hard to say without seeing the sight . Some have the knobs permanently attached  others hold the Knob with pins and yet still others are counter clockwise threaded into place .

I would ask the people at Williams specifically about this . They will have all the charts for your exact model and can tell you the correct procedure to replace the knobs without damaging the sight
