For the past two weekends I have camped out in my 4 man Kifaru tipi at a shooting club I belong to. I have learned some things about this type of tent.

I believe that this tent is best used in the fall, winter and early spring. The bigs in New England are coming out and they are able to sneak under the gaps at the bottom. In addition, the inside walls accumulate a lot of condensation. If you touch the walls, you get rained on.

I believe that for the summer where pests are an issue a floored model is needed.

How do you like the quality of these tents? Is it well sewn? I'm looking for a floorless design and still doing comparisons.
Did you consider any others before buying the Kifaru?

It is well made. The stitching is good and tight and the materials are good. I just believe that when the mosquitos come out you will need something different. I was advised by someone that an OR bug bivvy is needed for this tent. In addition, a mosquito coil will go a long ways in controlling the bug issue.

I didn't consider other manufacturers due to the lightweight stove system that goes along with it. Kifaru seems to have a lot of positive comments concerning it. So, I took the plunge and bought one.

Thanks for the reply. Good idea on the bug bivy and coils, I never thought about that. I like the stove part too.
