thompson center encore
« on: September 08, 2007, 08:59:21 AM »
my cousin was recently given by his cousin a thompson center encore i believe (1977) it has a broker spring. i believe it to be a trigger spring. it is a torsion spring with a closed loop on one side and two tines that oppose to it. each of these tines( one of which is broken) has a small bend near the end. and it is held in the trigger by a pin. the trigger will not lock back. i would like to get a name for this spring and a source. a schematic would be very helpful.
thanks in advance for any and all help.

If it is from 1977 it is a Contender, not an Encore.  The best thing you can do is to call TC and make arrangements to send them the gun.  Ask them to fix the spring and do any updates needed and it will come back like new.  My only cost ever has been shipping to TC.

If you go to the TC web page you will find a place to order a manual.  Take a look here for an adobe version of the manuals

thanks for the information and welcome. i will pass the welcome on to my cousin.the manuals although useful are not detailed enough to provide the information that i need. i will definitely have to give them a call.  when i opened the case and examined this gun, it looked as though it had been frozen in time. not a scratch on it, the bore was perfect. the only thing i could find wrong with it was the spring. chambered in 44 mag. this gun ought to be a hoot to shoot.
thanks again

Be careful/  They are addictive.  I started with one frame and barrel, and now have a bunch of barrels and four frames, and still need more.
