Score one for Simmons
« on: September 08, 2007, 10:19:31 AM »
Bought a Simmons AETEC at a local auction to put on the BC. Got to the range and found the Left-Right adjustment didn't work. Packed it up with a check for $10 and sent to Simmons.  15 days later (yesterday) I found on my doorstep a brand new replacement scope. Can't beat that. By the way, total invested is $80.

Most of my scopes are Nikon but I put an aetec on a 10-22 project gun and have been very happy with it.

I have a couple of Simmons scopes and a couple of their red dots, I have found them to be great and their warranty work is outstanding..they are wonderful scopes for the money. I find them much better than many scopes I have looked through....<><....:)

My first Simmons was a Ruby Red lens.
Never did get to where I liked that blue/green background shading.

Then one day I was using it for a 200yd match in a heavy gray, rain.
The bull was plain as could be naked eye, but, couldn't even see it thru the glass.

It went back with a letter of explanation. They replaced it with a new scope I feel is better quality with a clear glass.

About the same time I bought a 20x binoc's from sportsmans guide where he claims you can see the hair on a knats arse'"  Just too powerful even for out here on the shortgrass plains. BUT; I could sure see things in the distance I never have with anything else.

One day while antelope hunting I noticed grass blades within the lense.  That went back for repairs and I asked "If you feel a replacement is needed rather than a repair, please send a 15x instead and bill me for the difference".   Got the much better quality 15x and ticket said N/C.  You bet, I'm a Simmons user since.  They may not satisfy you guys with money to burn that want to impress everyone with the much higher priced scopes. But, I'm sure happy with them and I've had several Redfields, Leupolds, and Nikon's.  Still have some, but, from now on it'll be Simmons.  I've had the fancy one's fail too.   Until Redfield and Weaver closed up they were guaranteed too.  Whatever turns you on as they say.

The ONLY person I've ever tried to impress with my guns or optics is myself. I'm a tough guy to impress favorably as I set the bar rather high. I've owned a grand total of ONE new Simmons scope and considered it the worst piece of crap excuse for a scope I've ever had the misfortune of owning and it was the TOP OF THE LINE model at the time. A few others have come my way since on used guns I bought and they have only reinforced what I felt about that first one. These days if I buy a used gun with one on it I usually just take it off and put it in the trash.

There is no other brand on the market that I've actually had on a gun of my own I feel as poor in quality as Simmons. I am always amazed when I read glowing testimony on them and wonder how we can have such different experiences on them but as they say beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder and I reckon my eyes just behold them differently.
