QUESTION ABOUT NRA STUFF
« on: September 09, 2007, 02:26:37 AM »
I am a member for a long time. I have received their offerings but have never bought anything.
I have always liked the member leather jackets.
Recently I have considered buying one.
Have any, here, ever bought from the NRA store?
What is your opinion of the quality of their offerings?
Pricing seems too be good---$200.00 for the jacket--but--what is your opinion?
Blessings

I've bought a few items in years past but not in a long time. I felt service was OK but prices have always seemed high to me on the items I looked at. I've never seen one of the jackets first hand so can't comment on them.

I would ask where the jacket is made, your right for a quality leather jacket 200 dollars is not that bad of a price I have seen higher. On the other hand if it is made in Pakistan the quality could be suspect and not worth the 200 clams. I have a vest made in Pakistan and I have had a couple of leather jackets I got cheap in the past. On all three the stitching does not hold up I had to get the vest repaired the first time I wore it as the stitching came loose on the part that fits over your shoulder. The jackets lasted longer but the leather was thin and prone to rip and wear thin and in the case of these Pakistan leather goods you get what you pay for so if they are made there I would pass.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

I got the leather jacket when I became a life member. It is pretty nice, the leather is not thick like a patrolman's jacket but it is not too stiff either. They had a promotion at the convention in Milwaukee last year, if you upgrade to life you got the jacket free. The upgrade was $750.00 dollars though.

I've got it packed away with my fall/winter clothes. I'll have to find it and look where it was made.

Looked at Burk's Bay on the webb---You can get one from them for less--no patch.
The more I consider this, the less I am inclined too get it.
NOW, I like a good deal, and, this is---however; Price is not always the indicator of a good deal.
I may have too reconsider GRIMJIM but if you are happy with yours it is a thing too consider.

NOTHING they sell is sold at bargain prices. IF you can find it elsewhere it will be cheaper.

I understand that Bill. It is a way too gain financial aid too support the organization.
In ways , of my own, I see this as a way to support.
Now, having said that, I am not a blind, hard of hearing, un-thinking supporter of all things NRA. There are issues which are questionable and, with which I disagree.
It is an organization, however, which does support some issues with which I agree. So I choose not too throw the baby out with the bath water.
Having said all of that--I am still not sure that the jacket is a good value---whoever I got it from.
Imano.
