Favorite Scope Mounts
« on: June 08, 2003, 07:55:51 AM »
I'm looking for a couple new scope mounts for a few new barrels I
recently acquired. I wanted to find out everyones favorite. I am
kind of partial to Burris Signature rings due to the plastic inserts.
Just wanted toi fund out what everybody else is using with what type
of base.

Thank You
Michael

Burris DD with signiture rings are what I use on the large calibers. Weaver or VVCG base and Warne QD rings on everything else.

Leopold DD with Leupold Rings.  Also have used Weavers and still have some Duo Rings but the Leopold is my favorite.

dual dovetail burris and signature rings on the encores, weaver base and burris signature zee rings on the contenders. my last contender barrel  has a redfield 3 ring mount. it is really good looking and should hold good. but it was a little more trouble mounting. the mount screws have to be ground down to tighten completely.

I used to use only Burris Signature rings but after trying the Warne rings have bought nothing else.  I hate marking up expensive scopes and although the Signature ring don't leave ring marks I have stripped the threads tightening the two halves together.  The Warne rings fit together so well that they leave virtually no marks on the scope, even matte finished ones that scuff easily.  I moves scopes around regularly so this is important to me.  The quick release rings have made this easier.  Especially nice is the slot spacing is the same on the VVCG contender and encore bases.  VVCG makes the best bases in my opinion.  Combined with the Warne rings you have a great set up.
