WEATHER CUSSING DISCUSSION
« on: September 11, 2007, 01:35:31 AM »
I guess I am as the Israelites were in the wilderness, at once not content with what the Lord provides.
We, IMO, down here on the Gulf Coast of Texas, have ENOUGH water.
I also understand that some of you folks in parts of the SE could use some.
The Lord being what He is and powerful in all His ways, I WISH/PRAY that He share some of our good fortune with you folks.
Blessings

With you praying to give, and me praying to receive, I think it'll all work out OK.

Water here is so low, that I have deer bedding down with the livestock, just to stay close to the pond.  Should make for an interesting rifle season if it doesn't change by November.

Before this spring, and all the rains, it was so dry here in West Texas that when you applied for a fishing license they gave you a can of Tick and Flea powder to dust any you threw back.

We have been rained on until we flooded, and are still getting it.  My prayers are also going out to move the rains to the SE part of the US.  Maybe if enough of us pray for relief, all of our prayers will be answered.

Some rain around my neck of the woods would be welcome, so keep those prayers going. If it gets much worse around here, the catfish are going to start getting fleas.

Well, let's see here.
8 INCHES last week.
No rain Saturday. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday---this drought is killing me.
Luckily It is raining, as I speak, with 70% chance of it being heavy today and 90% of it being REAL heavy tomorrow.
The radar is waterlogged.
I am tired of Quail---I will soon be tired of Mannah, if I am understood.

wl, your prayers must be working as we got about a half inch of rain here last night and the weather man says that some more is headed this way this afternoon.  ;)

I know the fish in my pond will like it.

I understand about too much rain. My cotton patch on the south plains turned into a weed patch this year. At least I didn't have to pay the boll weevil control payment this year. Come to think of it, I didn't have to pay it last year either because it didn't rain enough for anything to come up. Think I'll just go fishing for a couple of weeks.

We only got about 1/4" at most. The weeds and grass will appreciate it but it didn't help my pond and my pond needs  a LOT of help.

We got dumped on yesterday here in central Texas.  Have a 30% chance of rain everyday through Friday.  Now there TS Humberto off of the Gulf Coast.  That will keep the rain coming through the weekend for sure.

I'll do my part on the prayer line for you guys to get some of this rain.  Deer season should be real good this year with all the rain we've had.  We've been at the other extreme too and not even the javelinas were moving.

AW, Heckfire.
Tropical depression #9 due in this PM. 5-10 inches expected generally and areas of heavy rainfall of 10-15 inches for some.
I sure wouldn't wish that on any folks that I know.
Gotta go and get a pump---again.
Well that last part is a joke--we haven't been wet on the inside yet. Now some folks in town were wetted on pretty good. NOW 15 inches is going to get a lot of attention.
Anybody seen a BIG boat under construction???

Well, as of 7:30PM CDT Humberto is swinging NE.
Our winds are out of the east meaning we are going too be on the dry side (west). Looks as if you boys up the SE are going too get a bit of rain---hopefully not 10 inches.
Shreveport will get a drenching---hope it doesn't stall over anyone.
Good for us---Good for you I pray.

I'm on the hill top, so unless its your "big boat" rain, I'll take all we can get.  If it doesn't soak in, at least it will raise the pond level.

Glad you may be spared further, uh, baptism? ;)

That rain we were supposed to get today sort of slid down towards the Gulf and we didn't get a drop. I noticed that this tropical storm might angle over this way and we might luck up and get some of it. I know you guys in Texas is tired of it as y'all have been bombarded with rain. Maybe it will eventually move out of there and over farther east where we are about 24 inches behind in rainfall. Trees are dieing over this way for lack of moisture in the soil.

As I woke this AM (about 4:30 cdt) I noticed that Humberto was received as a hurricane along the Beaumont portion of the coast.
Now category 1 is not strong---85mph---but I like breezes, not wind. Hope folks is alright, on the bright side----maybe youse guys up the SE will get some water relief---looks like it is moving in the right direction.

I sure hope so as my pond needs it. I finished up the work on my inlet spillway today. It's now ready for a flood so bring it on. Of course since that last batch of concrete is still a little wet I'd prefer it to wait until midnight or so before water starts coming in thru the spillway from the lands that drain thru my pond.

I ended up with 1.5" total from the front. I think the ONLY place in the state reporting a lesser total had 1.37" and that may not be a final total. I can't seem to buy enough rain to raise my pond level.

Well we just came off  a two year drought, that the old farmers couldn't remember one worse. But, when it did start raining, the frogs and turtles took swimming lessons at a local fish hatchery. Then it started raining and rained for 31 days straight, and the water was going over Lake Texoma spillway for only the 3 rd time in 60 years. The frogs and turtles were buying life jackets and boats, and I kept looking for Noah to float by. Now it has tapered off, and is about right for the first time in 7 or 8 years.
The leaves are beginning to fall some here, which seems a little early for this part of the country, and they are saying a hard winter. I guess we'll see.
You may all go to hell, I will go to Texas. Davy Crockett

Up until the spring rains we were in a seven year drought, Oh, it rained during that period, 1/4 inch here and there, but nothing to create any run-off to fill the tanks and lakes. According to the news last night, our rainfall amount to date is approximately 35.46 inches.  A normal year will produce about 15.75 inches.

We did experience some flooding in the area, but the good side is lakes that have been near dry for six-seven years are now running over the spillways..  It has been so bad that my bass boat has not left the driveway for about six years except for a trip to Lake Fork and one to Toledo Bend.  With the lakes full I guess I will be putting off a lot of the work that needs to be done, and turn into a worthless fishing bum again.  (I wish.)

Been so dry around here you can tell where the river is by the dust the catfish kick up when they swim upstream. We started measuring rain by the spacing between drops " We got a 4 inch rain, 4 inches between drops".

Actually got a pretty good rain yesterday, but it came down so fast most of it ran off, not the soaking rain we need.

I didn't know they even had a boat dealer in your neck of the brush.
Must have driven too Pt Lavaca to find it. ;)

From where did the rain come?? Must have been from that front that moved thru Atlanta on Thursday---I don't think Humberto got up too you folks!

Too all
I pray that you get the rain that you need---and then it stops.
I our case, down here, I hope it drys up for a while.
