A friend of mine gave me a nikon buckmasters and i mounted it on my encore. well when i got it dust covered it so i didn't know how good of a scope it was. i just now got around to cleaning it after i boresighted it. and it stinks. i cleaned it good. its about as bad as a very cheap tasco. i don't know what to do about it. its clean but i don't get why its not as good as what the newer scopes are and as good as they avertise. a leupold vx1 is way nicer. i am just wondering if i should send it back to nikon? hows their service?

I've got 3 Buckmasters, they're all good scopes, give em a call and see what they say, they'll probably just have you follow their instructions on their repair page.

I have three Buckmasters, and they are great scopes. Clear and bright thru the entire magnification range, resettable windage and elevation and a great value too.
