Going to start on coyotes Oct.20th.

My coyotes should grade heavy by Oct. 20 th.I better get "stuff" ready.It rained on my dry dirt pile after I got it sifted but not in the barrels.Found a vein of coal shale on the way home from work.I'll have to get a barrel or 2.Not going to use waxed dirt this fall.I've been having a tablespoon of gland lure with my breakfast for the last week.Got to "get my mind right".

Im thinking your in Montana and I'm just wondering if you get much rain or freeze melts?

Yotero, im going to start on yotes first this yr also.  Not much water for rats  or any water fur bearers.   Mink and rats are  priming later towards 2nd week of Nov  so will wait till then  and hope no freeze up  .  Last ten years though  it has been warmer so good chance no freeze and then weekend trappers are gone and  have pick up set locations..

Its really cooled down over the last week....from 90-100 to 60-80 days and nights are down in low 30's tonight its supposed to freeze,
I might just start before bird season it keeps up this way maybe trap the week before bird season then quit for the first week at least on land

 Chacto,I always get rain/snow and freezes.The first year I trapped coyotes hard I missed 21 coyotes out of 34 sets one morning.Rained,froze,tracks all over the pan.When we get weather fronts the fur moves.My locations and antifreezing has changed over the years.

Will be starting a short early line on Oct 10-12 depending on weather. Will pull that after 5 days, then hit it hard starting 17-18th. Can't wait.

Hmm maybe i need dry dirt then, I moved here from Michigan where you needed dumptruck loads of dry dirt, Last year was the drought and
actually i spent some time in a hospital and missed trapping season so i guess i dont know, Ill get some and thanks Coyotero for the heads up,
I had always read about how dry it is in the western states.
