I wonder if there will be any real downside to cutting the throat deeper on my 6.8SPC encore barrel? I can't help but feel that freeing up that extra case capacity would help with accuracy and keep pressures in check. Do ya'll think this is worthwhile?
Right now I seat 130grn Hornady SST's to a col of 2.415 or .015 off the lands (illustrated on the left) as you can see the base of the bullet protrudes into the case by a good deal. What I would like to be able to do is seat these bullets so the base of the bullet is flush with the bottom of the case neck (shown on right). I can rent a throating reamer for $25 so I won't be out any real cash on this endeavor.
