I have a great idea!!!!!!!!! I am not sure where to post it but here it is. NEF has the Prairie dog shoot every year. I would like to try to organize a a range shoot with all GBO members. Bring what ever rifle you want. We could hold competitions like tightest groups at 100 200 and 300 yards. We could even make up some games to play. I don't know this whole thing needs input from other members. I think it would be a good place to meet other members. We could cook out bring the family. We could even chip in $20.00 a piece to come up with some prizes for winning a competition. I would need help finding a centrally located place and different matchs to hold. sounds like a good idea. my only question is where is there a range big enough to handle that many shooters?? if you could put something like that together id probably try to make it.

I am thinking for it to be fair to everyone it should be center of the United States. I am thinking around IL. Maybe western OH. Dale

Dale, you're a little east coast biased, the geographical center of the lower 48 is in Kansas, still way too far for me tho. I'd pick a place that can get a group together, wherever it is.

Like I suggested, find a group of members in an area, then pick the spot. There are a lot of Oklahoma members here, and Ohio as well, for a couple examples. One of those members will have to pick a range and organize the shoot.

I could talk to the president of the club and ask him what it would take to have it at my club...They just held the Nationals for the Bench Rest Association at it...and folks were trailer camping there too..It has a nice 600 yard range...I would to need know how many people and everything...and there is a near by Days Inn motel too..

Sure would like to get together with the guys from Oregon and Washington and Idaho. Things are just so busy right now, I just don't see it happening in the near future. Wife just graduated with Nurse Practitioner degree and just started new job. Four kids in different schools. 3 kids in sports. 4 games a week for the next month.

St Louis has an airport, I wouldn't mind picking someone up on my way from IL. It may be late in the year to get this done now, but there is next spring.

I only wish I had more time to get out there and do it. Unfortunately, they're all packed into the next 3 months. Deciding what to do when we have a day is the hard part. I pretty much let my 15 y.o. decide what we'll go after. He says, "Dad, can we go pheasant hunting this weekend?" I say, "Son, go ask your mom and if she says yes, we're gone."

It works well, because for some reason, she has a much tougher time telling him no than she does me.

I have 20 acres of open ground with electric, outside of St. Louis if anyone would like to camp or have a pig roast if this comes together. It is adjacent to an airstrip if anyone would like to fly in.....

Like some have said it would have to be next spring. Maybe March, April or May. It would take some time to put this thing together. We will need to decide how many can attend. I would like it to be a couple hundred at least and to make a weekend out of it. That way everyone can shoot and maybe hold finales the second day. Then we could have a winner in each category. Dale

Time off, till I retire in 18 months, is pretty well spoken for, but, I'd make every effort to attend one of these, if the time is right. For me and my work, I'd need several months advance to put in for the time off.

I think its' a great idea though.

Not as far as Missouri, but Montana is even closer for me, and it would be nice to shoot and camp at the same location!!

I am very interested in this idea. St. Louis would not be too far for me, maybe about 400 miles. How about regional ones at different months? Maybe one East , central and one West? On second thought I like the idea of meeting some of the guys face to face all in one spot is good too. It sounds like a lot of fun. After all that is what shooting and fellowship is about. I would like to get in on a PD shoot too, but numbers are really limited and it never seems to work for me, still working and all.
