If you are wanting to do something like that you should consider doing it some place around LasVegas NV. There are cheap direct flights there from everywhere in the free world, lots of cheap rooms (and expensive ones), and camping if you want it. There are ranges around to use, and there is no hunting license required to shoot Coyotes, (or anything else that is not considered "game" I think). Lots of public land not too far out plus the weather is nice in the winter. Larry

A gathering of this magnitude deserves a name and a lot of planning. WOODSTOCK is already spoken for, but GUNSTOCK is wide open.

Tim,
I've studied this whole page and I don't have a 'Spell check as I type' toggle under my post window. I have three, 'Notify me of replies', 'Return to this topic', and 'Don't use smileys'.
The 'Return to this topic' is the only one checked. This laptop is barely functional after my beloved 'enhanced it'. It now thinks it is a Commodore 64.

MT sounds nice to me. I would rather be in the country than at a range.
It wouldn't be fair to have it in OK.
We all ready have the prairie dog hunt.
Some place the other guys could go.
If we go annual though it should move year to year.

It would be nice to hold it with the PD shoot in early June,plenty of wide open spaces out there. I tried to locate someone in the chamber of commerce at Hooker Okla. to help host a PD shoot for the whole GB bunch,but could'nt ever catch anyone in there office. Digger

All right guy's here is a list of some things we need to do as a team to put this thing together.
1- We need ideas to name this event.
2- We need a list of shooting match's that we can compete in.
3-We need to try to line up a couple sponsors to help out with the event. 4- We need members in KS or MO to step up and help with the planning and location of the event.
5- We need to decide on a date.
6- I think we may need at least 5 volunteers to work with me to try to put this thing together.
7- We need this thread split so everyone on GBO can get involved.

if you think about how many different shoots would have to be scheduled, plus the various targets, it would be a tactical nightmare.

then you gotta keep the different sides of the war of northern aggression apart or find a suitable spot to let em act out their pent up emotions.

you would have to put the traditional and in-line shooters on the opposite sides of the range

you would need whitetail targets for the eastern hunters, mule deer targets for the western hunters.

trap ranges and skeet ranges are needed for the shotgun sports, a pond for the hunting dog competition.

everything must be wheel chair access able for the Hunters and Outdoorsmen with Disabilities

A hawk and knife range is necessary for their competition and of course a truck pull off and 4-wheel drive course for the trucks

Then we would have to build a western town for the cowboy action shooting, and get a liquor license for the saloon

There would have to be a lake nearby for the fishermen and a suitable place for the survival competition.

A 1,000 yard range for the BPCR and a a suitable spot for the mortar and cannon.

I would love to see what such a place would look like!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We do really need to work the sponsor angle though. The targets alone are going to cost a lot of money. If we have a skeet shoot there is a bunch more money. I can see everyone bringing their own ammo although it would be great to get a sponsor who sells ammo. Dale

We're building a new range here in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Will have 100, 200 and 300 yard, as well as pistol and shotgun courses too. We just bought 80 acres, hoping to get started on it soon............Ponca about 75 miles south of Wichita KS and 100 miles west of Tulsa.......

well its kinda got the west coast area. too far for me. why not central like around Texas Oklahoma area. kansas would be best. its central and about equal to everyone. tim how far is too far for you and anyone else in the north west and north east areas. and far south east and far south west.

Me and the Mrs. would like to attend. St Louis seems too far east but we could adjust. Anyone from Omaha, NE that could assist?? The thoughts on holding off till spring are well. Would give more time to organize and miss all the hunting seasons. Let me know if I could help in any way!! Looking forward to meeting some of you in person................

I don't think you can pick one location that will be close enough for all. Regional events would solve that but would require that much more effort and planning and might still not get enough interest to support them all. When the PD shoot began there was to be two one in OK and one in the NW area but the folks there just never saw fit to get off their butts and make one happen. I think you'll find that to be the way of it most times and places.

This idea has come up periodically here for at least the last 8-9 years and so far from it has come only two that lasted any length of time the PD shoot and one from long ago from the SSRF but most of those guys eventually got themselves kicked off the site for their behavior. They might still be doing it in MS tho for all I know as I've not heard from any of them in serveral years. They got the impression that since I'd come to the gathering with them and got to know them they could ignore the rules of the site. They were WRONG.
