Chris is right. If you want to get into gunsmithing, get rid of that Ruger, just get an Italian gun.
I don't mind it though, it is good to get to know your gun. The spare parts are cheap and easy to install.
In defense of my Pietta, I have to say, I have cocked the damn thing and aimed it at the tv about 700 times while watching "Outlaw Josey Wales", though I have only fired 25 rounds through it. So the springs have gotten a workout.
Still, I have cocked my Ruger Single Six just as many times and have never broken a spring.
