It has the same glass as the Monarch (95% light transmission) which means that it has  excellent optics.  I think that it has a 30mm tube as well as the traditional tactical features.  You are right, it has one heck of a scope for the money.  However, if you are willing to spend about a few hundred dollars more, then you can get a Nightforce scope which is in a class by itself.  The Nightforce scopes are commanly used in the 1000 yard benchrest competitions.

Lee over at Buds gunshop made me a smoking deal 1705.90 landed for 2 of the Nikon 8415 scopes (new in the box ,full warrentee ).so you can't beat that . the so called meet and beat the price dealers (who shall go nameless )couldn't or wouldnt match it . yes the Nightforce scopes are the hot ticket ,but the cost was prohibitive for me this time .I do hope to own one someday if I live long enough . not looking to step on any sponsors toes but the price spread was too much . that's all I can say on this because I don't want to be baned if ya know what I mean .
