H&R 10ga slug gun
« on: September 14, 2007, 10:33:31 AM »
Are these hard to come by?  What would be "as high as I should bid" price?

Unless you are in love with the H&R I wouldn't pay much over the asking price. Do a search on BPS and look at the 10 ga models available. They go for very reasonable money.

That's just me, of course, and no reflection on the H&R, but the BPS is much more gun. If the H&R goes for $250 and you can steal a BPS for maybe another $100 more ...

That's a link to a **new** 12 3 1/2 for an asking price of about $145.

I own an like a 10 ga, but think the 12 ga 3 1/2 more practical for most.

I haven't seen a gun for sale in quite a while, but you can order a 10ga accessory barrel w/sights for $60 from H&R. Of course that would be if you already had a 10ga frame.

#638 10 Ga., 3 1/2" Chamber, 24" Cyl. Bore  $60.00
(Includes adjustable rifle sights for slug shooting.)

The gun in your link was made in 1979.

Firing a 10GA 3.5" slug out of a single shot would require grit...Someone else can shoot that beast...It will not be me.

Actually, they aren't all that bad in my BPS, although the gun is fairly heavy. Now the turkey loads ...

That's another story.

Thank God I've been too busy to bid on that. I wanted it bad but have another to pay for right now that I won unexpectedly.

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

Isn't it great when you unexpectedly win with a ridiculously low bid?
