anyone know anything about " Simply Rugged "
« on: September 15, 2007, 03:33:05 AM »
Gentlemen:    I just bought a Redhawk with a 4" barrel, now looking for a good holster for it.  I found a guy in Alaska that makes some nice looking holsters. His business is " Simply Rugged ".  Other than an article in a handgun mag., can't seem to find out much about him.  I did go to his website (simplyrugged.com), looks ok, then called him and discussed what I wanted .....seemed ok.  Has anyone dealt with this guy ? Or maybe seen his products ?  Any feedback would be appreciated.     Guess I should add his prices seem quit reasonable, maybe I'm paying for what I'm getting.......?   Thanks

I know Rob and hes a very fine gentleman. hes made a couple hosters for me. The ones i orded from him were just working holsters and very well made and rugged. I havent seen any of his fancier ones so i cant comment on them. You wont go wrong dealing with him though.

on the ruger forum there is exactly the holster you ask about for sale and I think there might be a picture of it. Hope this helps...did not look at it cause my barrels are a little longer.. have heard nothing but good about those products though...
enjoy you pistol, a good comfortable holster is worth something, I do not care if they are fancy, just good for the intended use.
I would add I trust what Mr. Smale says completely... he is definitely experienced... and honest so his stamp of  approval has merit.

I've got one (Sourdough Pancake) that I've worn just about everyday for couple of years.  I have several Milt Sparks holsters that are absolutely top notch, but I still stay with Rob's pancake for everyday, all day carry.

FWIW,

For the "BIG" framed wheelies its the best going I have found for the cost, Have one for the 3 1/2" 27 and it just flat works

Glad to hear all the positive on Robs work, Maybe I live in a cave or something....I'd not heard of him or his company.  Thanks for the info,  dk, where did you see the holster for sale ?  I looked at the Ruger forum...didn't see anything for sale.  Thanks for your help.

I have 2 of Rob's Lawrence 120's (6 1/2" and a 7 1/2"), a sourdough for my 4 /8" Single Six, a Leatherman case and a cartridge carrier for 6 rounds.  I am very pleased with all of his work.  The only drawback now is everyone else is figuring out he's putting out a very good product, makes the wait a little longer, but worth it.  Oh and there's that small detail of his prices being very reasonable.  As you see he has my vote.

Wise decision, you can't go wrong and he gets two thumbs up from me.
