Good topic.  Interesting explanations.

While a police officer I became a driving instructor for police officers.  After retiring from sworn duty, I accepted a full time position as an instructor at a police academy teaching driver training.  The term for such training is, Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC).  The "ONE" is my instructor unit number when on the course ... EVOC ONE.

Mine is from a book title. It is about a Maine woodsman who becomes a game warden. The book is a great account about living and hunting in Northern Maine.

Being a simple Jawjuh boy and becoming a combat engineer in the GA ARNG, it simply became a play on the word Engineer - N-ja-near.  It has been following me ever since.

Several years ago I use to metal detect every free minute I had, mostly civil war sights and that's were the "digger" came from. The number is from my old fire badge "658".

Mine, Christopher, is my brother's middle name. I couldn't think of anything else at the time I registered, so I just used that one. I have been thinking about changing it though

In Southwest Arkansas is a small area on the USGS maps labelled Blue Bayou.  This is where the inlaws do their deerhunting.  Pretty uneventful.  That and I really liked a book called "Man on Fire" by AJ Quinnell.  The Linda Ronstadt song figures in the book.

No Linda Ronstadt jokes, por favor.

McLernon was my family name prior to my great-grand father changing it when he rejoined the U.S. Army after the civil war on January 2, 1866. He spent at least 15 years in the U.S.Army and Marine Corp. Don't know why he changed our name. He was aboard 'Old Iron-sides' on its last trans-oceanic voyage in 1878 and was one of the Marines that were sent to guard the U.S. Exhibits at the 1878 Exposition in Paris France. The Irish spelling of the name is Moc Giolla Earnain and means son of, the followers of, St. Earnain from the 12th century.

Both my given name and last name were deliberately chosen to be the same as two famous civil war generals.

Contrary to what most people suppose, mine has nothing to do with the Chrome plated super Hero.  I have a Honda Sabre motorcycle with a two tone silver flame paint scheme on it.  Beautiful bike that, believe it or not, the wife picked out.  Unfortunately it's cursed.  Every single time I set my ass on it will rain! :-\  Well one day I was riding it home from work and my kids, seeing the two wheeled personal water craft coming down the road, told my wife "here comes the silver surfer".  It stuck.
I recently passed that bike down to my oldest son, now that little punk can see how funny it is! ;D

Reckon I don't know anyway to do a real merger but under the old name you only had three posts. Under your new one you have a LOT more. So if you like I can alter the old one and give you that name in place of peanut if you'd like.

If so we really should do it via e-mail not on here as I think when I change the user name I'll also have to change the password if I recall correctly. So you'll have to have a wait to get the new password and name. If you'll e-mail me what you want it to be I'll make it that rather than a temporary one but it matters not to me either way. Just let me know what you'd like to do.

Well for this forum, mine's pretty obvious, but I actually started this name on Yahoo's NEF forum, years ago.  It was the frist name I tried there and couldn't believe it wasn't taken.  I thought this was cool.

What's been REALLY cool, is every forum I've gotten on since, it's still available.  Sooooo, if you see a post by Handirifle somewhere, it's most likely yours truely.

Heck, our church runs a web site and I even used it on there.  I personally knew 3/4 of the people on it, and people would hardly reply to my posts, but we really enjoy chatting together face to face.  I never told who I was, but figure a name with "rifle" in it, on a church forum , must strike a nerve.  Can't please everyone I guess.

There's some pretty cool stories to read on this thread.

Just hope no-one ever take my name to some other forum and starts bad mouthin people, it might come back to the wrong feller.

Started working in a meat plant when I was 14, and when signing up for the old NEF forum, it's what I started with.  Used it ever since.
