I've been called Grim for over 20 years now. I'm told it is because I always look ticked off. I don't know if it's the slant of my eyebrows or what. Quite a few people have asked me what's wrong when there is absolutely nothing wrong. I guess I need to start skipping and whistling everywhere I go.

Forty years ago, the City Park in Lander, WY where I grew up, was the place where most town kids hung out in the summer. Unfortunately, some grownups would take unwanted weaned pups and dump them off at the park, thinking that kids would take them home and beg mom and dad to keep them. My older brother (by 18 months) picked up this black mutt of a puppy one day, took it home, and begged Mom and Dad to keep it. Well, of course we kept it. To name it, we all wrote names on pieces of paper, put them in a hat, and Dad picked one. The chosen name was my mother's entry: Gomer, after Gomer Pyle on the TV show popular at that time. That dog was a true blue friend to our family throughout the remainder of my childhood. He went with us kids everywhere. Those were the days when a few boys could leave home in the morning with a little lunch, tell our mothers where we were going, explore the country just outside of town, and be back by suppertime. And nobody worried about us. Sadly, those days seem to be lost forever.

Played baseball in high school.  I hit a game winning homerun one night and one of my buddies said I was smiling like a rat that just found a big hunk of cheese.  Next thing I knew, I was the rat to all the guys on the team.  The rat was taken when I registered on some site long ago, so I made it darat, but that was taken too.  Stuck the 100 on the end so I could use the name.  Just kind of stuck for all my online names.

well, my handle was given to me by a hunting buddy, because I've been hunting geese since i was 12 and really enjoy it. One day i was walking back to our group of guys when i heard someone ask"wheres gooser?" they all were laughing and I heard "who?", and as i walked up,john said "HIM" and was pointing at me. So that stuck like a bald tire in two feet of mud.  ;D

I seem to have this addiction to the 30 caliber rifles.  Don't know why, but they just seem like the most fun to me.

well my last name is Berry...but Tackleberry refers to the charactor in the  movie "Police Academy" .  In my last Navy squadron, they realized that guns were my number one interest and I had a few of them like the charactor in the movie.....so it seemed to fit,,,,

The first NEF I bought was a 10ga SB2-MAB about 4 years ago. I was also 10ga on the old H&R Talk. I used to use asetech1962 and wrenchin4alivin on several chevy truck forums I was on. asetech1962 is for ASE certified auto technician and the year I was born.
 wrenchin4alivin is obvious ;D

Mine being the spotdoctor, it came about two ways. The first my being  ability to catch spotted bass according to all my partners and freinds. ONe friend of mine started calling  that after he saw me save countless spots that had swallowed the hooks to deep In case anybody wants to know , you leave about a foot of line connected to the hook and push it througeh one of the gill plates with  forceps, then pulling the line
tight  down the body thus making the bend of the hook turn outward toward the fishs mouth. Then get the forceps while still pulling line tight and grab the hook and pull it out easy as pie.

When my beard went white, the wife and son started calling me the old graybeard.  I used that for a couple of years then I found this site and had to come up with a new one since "Graybeard"  was obviously taken, so someone off the old NEF web site said I was an old Sourdough, because I have lived in Alaska so long.  I figured it would fit as well, so here I am.  Sourdough, plus I love Sourdough Biscuits.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Very interesting stories and great fun to read. Being an old mid-Ga. plowboy, I have a keen interest in the old Confederacy. Do you remember the rebel sub they pulled from the ocean out from Charleston in 2000? It had been under for 135 years and had eight men in it and was the first sub to sink an enemy ship. It is the H.L.Hunley-named after one of it's builders. I joined Friends of the Hunley after seeing the sub in person. So, when I joined this forum, I called myself Hunman55, my age at the time. This is a great forum. Hunman55

My handle is Willyjohn,   and as it turns out that is also my name. This isn't nearly as interesting as many posts, but I am originally from Pennsyltucky, too , but now live in friendly downtown Lake Havasu City, Arizona where a gazillion square miles of God's outback is at my back door.

Well Grandpa calls me (censored word) (rhymes with shipbag) cause one day a few seasons back when I was bow hunting and it was real cold out, like 15 degrees I was up in my tree stand and I was within 50 yards of a nice 4x4 and 2 does, and I had to crap like a crippled coon. I held out as long as I could till about noon. I musta had on 4 layers of clothes and all I had to go in was this plastic bag. So I dropped my drawers real quiet like and did my business in the bag, and that big buck stuck his nose in the air, snorted real loud, and took off running with the 2 does in tow. Needless to say, I was done for that day. When I got back to the house, Grandpa looked at the bag and and said what's that? He's been calling me that ever since.

Don't make for a good internet handle though. So I used my Indian name. I must be movin up in the world, cause my old Indian name was vegetarian.

I see no reason why it should not have accepted (fat Indian) as that name is not taken at this time and as far as I know never was.
