CR Carbine
« on: September 16, 2007, 03:15:42 PM »
I just picked up a new H&R CR carbine in .45 colt, I think this will become my favorite woods bumming gun.

WELCOME TO GBO!!!!!

I too recently picked up a barrel for this fine old caliber. I really like the short length!! Its been one of my favorites for many many years!!!

What are your intended uses? Hunting or just paper punching?

I'll use it for hunting, woods loafing, plinking and what ever comes up. I do a lot of woods walking and I've had a few run ins with feral dogs.  and I think the local armadillo's are in for a nasty surprise.

Welcome aboard, hobbit!! ;) You'll love the BC Carbine, it's a fun little gun, mine shoots handloaded 250gr Speer GDHPs and 250gr Hornady SSTs at a tad over 1900fps with plenty good accuracy and energy to make it a 150yd deer killer, I think you're gonna enjoy it, it's kind of a mini 45-70!! ;D

 Hobbit,
If you're shootin feral armadillos you must be south of the Mason Dixon Line. I'm in Plant City, Fla. How close are you to me?

I'm in the hills of northern Arkansas, I got a thing for single shot rifles, and I love the .45 colt, I've used a Marlin 94 in .45 colt for 20 years, but when I saw this little carbine I had to have it.

Hobbit,
You will love that straight comb stock and short barrel. Don't miss the Handles thread below. :)

Yeah the stock is great, I put a straight grip stock and a muzzle loader forearm on my 45-70 Handi rifle several years ago. These are great little rifles, I've had several over the years.
