1891 sporterized Nagant
« on: September 17, 2007, 10:08:32 AM »
At a gun show Saturday, I bought a sporterized 1891Nagant. The stock was cut off at the first barrel band and rounded to a sporter look. The entire stock was then refinished in a nice blond color. The bore is bright and shiny. I had no intention of buying anything military, but at $85 dollars I couldn't walk away from it. My question is what is the gun worth in this configuration? I know I can't lose. I will use the rifle as a truck gun.

My local gun shop has MilSurp ammo for $3/20, so I can plink away.

If you could let me know where you can get 7.62X54R ammo for three bucks a box of twenty that would be great. Most will say that a sported mil-surp isn't worth anything, for me if the rifle does what I want it to do then it is worth it's weight in gold. For a truck gun it's worth all the 85$ you paid for it. I have a sported M44 that I love to shoot.

I finally got to the shop Saturday and yes it had ammo for $2.89 a box for old stock armor piercing ammo.Since I do a lot of business with him, he let me have it for $3.00 a box OTD. He has several more boxes left. Turns out this is stuff he got when he bought out another shop a few years ago.

The armor piercing will work fine for me as I shoot into a dirt bank that will stop any over penetration.
