I have three barrels on my Handi, .204, 243, and 50 S&W. All ignite every time except the 50. I use Starline brass which take the large rifle primers (which I use). One out of ten times, there is a good indent on the primer but the round does not fire on the first try. Most of the time, it fires on the second try. This is the only gun I have problems with. Since I use the same frame for all barrels, why do I just have problems with this one? As you say, unusual event with no answer.

Fred,
You might try stretching a rubber band or 3 over the hammer and around the scope base to help out the hammer spring.
It might give you a bit of information about your hammer spring strength if it fires with the rubber bands.
