Hard to believe this bore site has less damage then the gun or the guy!

In general many of us get complacent in our gun handling over time. My soon to be 6 year old son is always around my guns now when we go shooting. I watch like a hawk and am checking to see the status of guns constantly, with a sickness and dedication that makes me feel like I'm packing around Nitro glycerin. I cannot imagine anything happening to that little guy, or me putting the guilt for life on his shoulders. Only now do I recognize jut how much I've taken for granted when with other adults.

Please let this be a reminder right now to all of you with a gun that you cannot call that bullet back, you can't unring a bell. These are very dangerous and deadly tools we have in our hands!

Do I understand this right?  Did this guy leave the bore sighter in the end of the barrel and try to shoot the gun?!!!

I can not imagine me doing that, but it makes me feel even better about using the laser sighter that is shaped like a bullet and is loaded in like a bullet.

I know the intent of your post, but was thinking the barrel would make a good lamp.  Bend the split barrel parts back so they sit evenly, run a cord through what's left and position it in your most traveled room.  I keep a buldged 1911 barrel on my bench as a reminder to visually check each and every case for powder level before seating bullets.

Thanks for the timely and graphic reminder!  That has happened more than once, and to experienced shooters, no less.  Be safe, and keep your little guy safe, too.  They grow up too fast!
