Fly in Ontario Moose Hunt
« on: September 21, 2007, 04:26:38 PM »
I fly out on Oct. 7 th from Fort Francis Ont..  This is the first time Moose hunting and I am juiced.  Hunt mostly by wate  then get out and call, during rut.  Weather can be very tough this time of the year, unpredictable.  Stay in wood heated cabin with hot showers.  Just me and my guide ,he is very experienced, late 30's and a patient gentleman.  This is the first time I will fly in to a spot and watch the plane leave, somewhat isolated feeling, I love it.  Getting ready day by day.

Best of luck!  I, too, love fly-in hunts.  There is truly something magical about being 'left behind' in the wilderness.  I've been lucky enough to do this for hunting caribou, for fishing, and for a canoe trip or two (although those were more like fly out once the destination was reached!).  I used to hung bears north of Ft. Francis, and it is beautiful country, indeed.

Have fun, be safe, and kill a big 'un.

Oops!!  That should read "...hunt bears..." not hung bears.  Alhtough I did hang two from that area.

I just completed a one week Moose hunt, water based in Ontario.  I saw a huge Bull but it was the day before the season on the way in to the cabin.  I am still trying to figure out if I want to do it again.  If Muskie fishing is the fish of 1000 casts, Moose hunting is the hunt of 1000 boat rides!  Weather was terrible for 3 days.  This maybe something that should carry an age limit, at 58 years old I think I maybe on the wrong side of the line.  I wanted an Adventure and that is exactly what I got.
