44 mag load
« on: September 24, 2007, 07:12:13 PM »
Anyone use this load.  SRH 44 mag. 250 grain Keith bullets from Mt. Baldy with 10 grains of Unique?  I have some loaded but not been able to fire them yet.  Looks like a good Michigan white tail load to me.

While I do not know your barrel length, you should be getting some where around 1300 fps with that load in a 20" barrel. I would think that it would be plenty for deer if you put it where it counts and do not stretch it very far. ;)

ive shot Mich. Deer and and two hogs with that load and ive yet to recover a bullet. I use it in a super blackhawk and 4 inch n frame smith. It will get about 950 fps out of a 4 inch barrel and does a fine job on game.

you got a good reference on your unique load, one i'm going to have to give a try. you might want to try blue dot
or 2400 if you feel the need to experiment down the road. dan

10.5-10.7 grains of PowerPistol is a nice load as well at about 1,000 fps and it burns cleaner than Unique.
