Browning Acera
« on: September 25, 2007, 03:06:31 PM »
I have had one in a 30.06 for a couple of years now and I love it! It can shoot a three shot group with all holes touching. I have read on other posts that only 600 were imported. I don't know the actual number, but I am quite certain there were many more than that. As for as parts, I had to have my stock replaced last year. Just sent it in and had it back in a few weeks, so I know Browning has parts available in the US. The only thing I don't care for is the trigger, its not real bad but it could use some work. Does anyone else have any information on this gun? You certainly don't hear much about it.

I had one 30-06 and just won a bid on guhbroker for a 300 winny. Counting the days for it to arrive. I loved the 06, sported a Leupold VariX II 2-7 compact. the setup fit me perfect. My trigger was acceptable. I only shoot is a bit. Used just for hunting. She was so pretty , she only wemt out on nice days. The 600 figure, I also came across when I originally purchased it.

They never caught on in the USA. But in Europe, there are some strange laws concerning semi auto, so the BAR is out . And the Acera  is in. The receiver is not steel so you have to take extra care not to scratch it. I believe it is aluminum. Took a decent Doe last year and she performed perfect. one shot! It took me five shots to zero the scope before I remembered The Leupold scope  has an outer ring I had already set to this gun. I had removed the scope and put in on my 22 mag. Set it all back to zero and all was perfect. Zero would have been verified with just a few shots If I were a little smarter! Most of the internal parts are from a BAR minus the gas system of course, The European stocks are really strange looking. But the ones ship to the US had a traditional stock.
