Ruger Bisley .22 question

I'm interested in one of these, but I'm a little hesitant to get one, knowing the inheritant innacuracy issue with the .22 single sixes.  I'm wondering if the Bisley is made to the exact same tolerances as the single six, or if it's better?

accuacy levels were about the same on the ones ive had. If you want one and have found one youd better jump on it. They been discontinued for a while now and are getting tough to find and are going up in prce new and used.

I just bought one to use as a conversion to 32-20. I happened to shoot it and discovered it was as accurate as my fully accurized match grade barreled Single Six. Needless to say, I kept it and bought a different one for conversion. I dont know how that happened, but I dont have any trouble bouncing little rocks about at 35 yards.....I say gitchee one! If it dont shoot, have it converted or accurized. But thats just my 2 cents...

Sometimes accurizing one is as simple as finding the type of ammo it likes.  I can't believe how much differently some ammo shoots in some guns compared to others.  44 Man

If I do my part, both of my single sixes will hit 1/5th scale rams at 100 yards.  These rams will fit on the palm of your hand.  Shooting the right ammo for your gun is key.

Thanks guys for getting me in trouble again.  Talking about these and how there getting harder to find and prices going up.  Was at a meeting out of town Wednesday and stopped buy a couple of shops on my way home that I get to about once a year.  Lots of nice things in both shops, but I was "just looking" at all the eye candy.  At the second shop I noticed a used  .22 Single Six Bisley with a tag of $280 on it.  Since I just read these post a few days before it caught my attention.  I really didn't need another single six.  Looked it over. it had a few marks on it, about 95% over all. The walnut grips are a little oil stained.  261 series, I think made in 1986.   After a little hagling they came down to $245, so I bit and put it on lay away.  I really didn't "need" this. I got 2 kids in college and several Single Sixes already.  Feels great in the hand though.  Thanks guys.

I've got mine on order.  Should have it in a couple of days.  I don't have a .22 rimfire pistol, so I'm really looking forward to this.  If it doesn't shoot worth a darn, I can always re-sell it.

Was at the range with the .22 Bisley today.  It shoots the cheap bulk-pack Federals into 1.75 at 30 yards (6 shots).  I'm happy enough with that.  I'm glad I bought it.

I picked up a 5" Blue Bisley cut back by Clements today! Should be here in about a week or so....cant wait to try it out!

Now that I know mine shoots with the cheap stuff I'm gonna have my local 'smith cut it to 4 5/8.  I'll put a Rough Country rear sight on, build a custom front sight myself, and slick up the trigger.  Then it will feel just like my .45 Colt.  Cheap practice.  I love it!

I have one and it is really accurate.  Last month I shot it in our club bullseye shoot and did very well.  I had a keyholing problem.  Don't get scared.  I was using 36 grain Remington golden bullets and one string of 5, I had 4 rounds all in a group the size of a quarter at 25 yards.  Three of the four were sideways.   A good cleaning and an ammo change had me doing the same with the 40grain target ammo the next week.  I think I liked the keyholing as two added to my score.  The 5th was not far off.

Oh yea I forgot to add that it is different than the single six in that the cylinder is shorter and a Mag cylinder will not fit.  It was designed as a target gun, according to Ruger when I sent it back to them to have a mag cylinder fitted to it, telling it it was not possible.

I bought an extra .22LR cylinder from Ruger and had it rechambered to .22mag by my gunsmith.  I haven't shot it yet, still having some work done.  I don't own a single .22mag firearm so thought I'd have a bit of fun for not much money.  Before I sent it off I shot it for over a year and had a great time shooting CCI Match Shorts as well, the .22 Bisley is a very versatile gun.
