the hxp .303 british ammo that used to be available was superb. hxp used excellent brass in that chambering that was wonderful for handloading, and boxer primers were non-corrosive.
i'd sure try some, but only in a bolt gun or m-1. handis tend to be weird about mil-spec ammo. now, if you've got both bolt and handi in '06, there'd sure be nothing wrong with handloading the hxp brass for your handi ...

I had thought about this but unlike the 7.62 and 5.56, I think the civilian and military version of the 30-06 were the same dimensions.

I too have heard the Greek stuff is pretty good as far a Mil. ammo is concerned. I wouldn't use it too much in my Handi, I have seen pressures in surplus lots of 30-06 ammo vary a LOT. No to mention the whole disclaimer on not using it anyway from the factory :P
Were you planing on using it in your Handi or another -06 rifle you have?

The only 06 I have is the Handi. I don't remember seeing the paper with the mil-ammo warning when I bought the gun.
 I thought it was for the 5.56, 7.62 & 7.62x39
I could be wrong though ;)  I haven't bought any yet, was just curious.

The H&R/NEF owner's manual mentions using any ammo that isn't loaded to SAAMI and ANSI specs, milsurp isn't, so they indirectly say not to use milsurp in any H&R, but they also warn against using handloaded or reloaded ammo too. ;)

on a similar note, what about using milsurp 7.62x51 in handis? 7.62 is generally loaded to lower pressures that commercial .308. Any problems?
