Which holographic sight for a flat top AR?
« on: September 29, 2007, 03:06:48 PM »
I've been considering various makes and models.  Right now I think it's between an EOTech and Trijicon.  Trijicon sounds apealing because it doesn't require batteries, but the EOTech continues to work with a partially obscurred screen.

Anybody have any experience with any of these?  Any other models you might recommend?

Thanks,

Heavy C

I have a Bushnell Holo sight on my AR15. Runs on 2 AA batteries. Very long battery life and inexpensive replacement is a nice feature. This sight is durable a promotes quick target acquisition and accuracy. I like it.

It is the model 400. This model has been replaced with a newer version that runs on AAA batteries with 100 hour battery life for a lower profile.

For my hunting purposes, I really don't have a need for such sights.  However, I tried the Holo Sight on a Taurus RB in .454 and I think that it is a better choice than my traditional Burris handgun scope.

Thanks Cheese.  The EOTech model I was looking at is the 512 which does run on AA batteries.  I'll check out the Bushnell site.

Checked out the Bushnell - it is cool looking, but the reviews on Midway stink.  If I go with the Bushnell I might go with the model that runs on the N battery.

The search continues...

On top of an AR - Aimpoint.  Probably the toughest most battle proven sights out there.

I have a Eo-Tech 512 that is an OK sight. Were I to start over, I'd go with an Aimpoint, if for no other reason the warranty span for the Aimpoint is much longer.  Sure the Army uses the Eo, but if one of theirs goes bad, they just go get another, replacement cost is not a factor for Uncle Sam.

Thanks guys.  I've been traveling this week and didn't have access to my computer.  I spoke with a buddy of mine that just bought an Aimpoint and is really happy with it.  I'll check them out.
