Matt lost EVERYTHING in a home fire this morning.
« on: September 29, 2007, 11:40:43 PM »
Guys I just got a call from Matt. His home just burned to the ground. He lost everything but his life, Heather and the boys. They all got out but were not able to take anything thing out with them but the clothes they had on at the time. It's a total loss and they didn't have any insurance.

I did ask about the new servers and for sure one is lost and the other is a maybe but it's entirely possible all our investment in them is gone but more importantly everything else he had is gone. All of his computers and all the work he had on them, all their clothes and furniture and all that makes up one's life day to day is lost.

I repeat Matt, Heather and all the boys got out safely. All else is GONE.

It started on the back porch and the fire department is investigating and thinks it was arson.

He is certainly hoping the GBO family here can and will help. My finances are not such that I can help much. About all I can do is try to sell off some guns I don't use anyway to raise money but for sure he is going to need a LOT of help to get thru this and to keep this site up and running.

I don't even know how many computers he had but know his hard disks were measured not in gigabytes but in terabytes of data. He had one major project he was working on for a business that he will now have to begin all over again on from scratch.

Any and all help that can be offered will be MUCH needed and appreciated for sure.

He will I'm sure be here at my house later when the firemen leave and he knows more and for sure I'll be hearing from him later today to update folks.

So sorry to hear this. This family will need allot of help in many ways,I know the GBO family will help all they can.G.B. any way to set up a way to send some cash by pay pal to them?I know someone nearby would let him get online to transfur funds to his bank. After losing everything they will need cash right now, plus everyday items and clothing.Just glad they all made it out safe.
I've got $100 in my gun fund that I'd be glad to send them, not much but might help get them through a day.

I hate to hear this...Didn't Matt have a close call with his dryer awhile back???

I know he's got to be really down right now, but it was a close call and could have been worse....Give him and his family a big hug and let him know everything will be alright......

I know Matt doesn't have the same beliefs that I have...I'll keep him and his family in my prayers, he's young, sounds like he has a loving family, they'll be fine...

Thanks guys all I can say is the most important items in the house was saved and that was Heather and the boys all the rest can be replaced.

GB was not exaggerating everything up stairs was a total loos to include one of our new servers. The second was downstairs and was away from where the water damage is.  As for my personal computers they are all a wash. I do have the GBO siite backed up on an offsite server so GBO will survive.

At the moment the most important things are boys cloths ages 2 months, 3 years and 4 years toys would be great but not a necessity. I really hate to say it or ask it but at this time money is going to be the main thing we fall short on.

Will be glad to get any handme downs size 32 waist 32 inseam (mens)  size nine jeans in women's  and medium shirts.

Any donations can be sent to GB's house

3015 AL HWY 204
Jacksonville, AL 36265

We are going to stay with family a few days and sort through the ashes to see if anything is salvageable.

Those wishing to donate cash to help can use the GBO Server Fund pay pal button at the bottom of every page. We will forever be in your debt.

Again thanks to all of the GBO Family for your support in this time of need.

Bill, when I said how can we help out, I meant monetary. Matt is certainly in our prayers and he will make it, but he needs help now. I have $100 I had saved for reloading supplies, but Matt needs it more than I do. How can I get it to him?

While I was typing this Matt has responded. Pay Pal it is then, thanks and best wishes to you.

Anyone wishing to donate via check or money order rather than cash to send it to my address as well. Make it out to Matt Graham or James Matthew Graham. But as he said the button at bottom that was set up for the server fund can be used for this purpose now as well since it's already in place.

Over the years I have sometimes thought that Matt cared more about this site than any thing else.  Now it is clear to me why.  Your willingness to help us out during a time when we have nothing and need everything, even though most of you have never even met us is person touches my heart.  I have almost resented the time he spends on this site.  Now I understand that you guys are as much of a family to him as my boys and I are.  Words can not express how much this means to me.  You will never understand how much better I feel about the whole situation just from reading your post.  I cant explain how much this means to us.   Thank you all for you kind words and willingness to assist us in this time of need.

God Bless,
Heather

Man I just took a pickup load of stuff to the Goodwill 3 weeks ago. Not sure what my wife had in there but I will ask her what else we might have to send out. I have 6 kids but the youngest is a 4 year old girl so we have been cleaning house. I'll see if we can send something out in tomorrow mail but for now you"re in our prayers!

Just a few years ago I had new windows installed in our home mainly because we wanted to installed egress windows in the basement. Hope we never get a chance to use em!

Matt very sorry to hear this. I have always feared what has happened to you. I hope you guy's come through this ok. I will be getting some money from a basement job in about another week and a half. I will see what I can send then. Be great full you still have your family and yourself. Good luck Dale       PS    You don't think this has anything to do with the problems we had with the site a few months ago do you? Alot of strange things went on then.

Matt I am so sorry to hear about this. I know of many a family that lost everything they had in the hurricanes down south.  But have faith my friend, it may seem a low point now, but you and your family will rise above this. Makes you really see whats most important in your life, and having your family by your side is certainly a blessing.
