Who can re-bore a .22 Hornet to 25/35?
« on: September 30, 2007, 06:13:38 AM »
I recently acquired an old Savage M219 singleshot in .22 K Hornet.  Unfortunatly the bore is pretty ratty and I can't get groups better than about 2 MOA,  that would be fine for a 30/30 but not a small varmint rifle so I'm thinking of getting it re-bored and chambered for 25/35. Can anyone suggest who might do this work and about what it may cost?  Thanks in advance! ;D

It may be hard to do if the barrel was button rifled.  there isn't much metal to take out going to .25, so there ends up being hard spots where the origional metal was compressed by the button.  You may think about a liner, it is easy with the low pressure Hornet I would think.

Ol' Marv(Datil) had a 223 Superlight H&R rebored and rechambered to 25-35 by Wayne York, Marv loves it, has wanted one since he was a young fella. ;)

I have three rebores that were done by Cliff LaBounty and they are very fine shooters. Cliff retired and sold his business to and trained Jim Dubell.

Many thanks for all the replies! I guess I'm still in the "mulling-it-over" stage but if I do get this done I will be sure to post results here.
