Is there any way to get an H&R in this caliber?  6.5X55 Swede
Does anyone know if they will custom build one??

They won't, one option would be to have a 223 barrel rebored and chambered, another would be to have a donor underlug welded to a custom barrel as I'm having done by my gunsmith. The rebore would cost $300-$350 on top of the cost of the original rifle, the welded underlug will cost less, plus I get a ~28" Shilen custom barrel. ;)

Yes, Tim did post a few range reports after having his project completed. Try searching using his username and the key words "Handi 6.5x55" and narrow the search area to the Handi Discussion forum. ;)

Search is your friend!

Sorry I didn't respond earlier, planned on it after I reviewed all the classifieds, then forgot!  ::) :-[ Here's the one and only range report, it hasn't been shot since, too many other new Handis to shoot, and it's too heavy to hunt with!  ;D BTW, my gunsmith ended up stubbing the barrel using the 300WSM(308Win) stub I sent him instead of cutting the underlug off and welding it on the Shilen blank. I've since had a 243 Superlight barrel bored and chambered to 260 Rem which also shoots very well.

Thanks for picking up my slack, Dinny!  :D

Thanks for the information Tim and Dinny.

Tim is there any chance you'll be in a selling mode any time soon?

Failing that, what did it cost to get the 6.5 made up? (If I may ask and you chose to answer!)

There is a place in my case reserved for a 6.5

Thanks

Sorry, too late, Dinny already asked!  :-\  $320 for the stub job plus $140 for the blank and I supplied the original barrel for the stub. The smith I used doesn't do stubs any more, too labor intensive, he only does rebores now.
