New .308 range report
« on: October 06, 2007, 05:55:52 AM »
Hey thought I'd give you a range report on my new .308 Handi.   In 3 words I LOVE IT.    I bought 2 boxes of Fed 150 grain power shocks just to us as break in and boy break in nothing.  Mine shot 1-1 1/2 groups after 3 sight in rounds.  I even managed to get three shots into 2 1/2 in at  175 yds.  I think these will work for this years deer season.    I did clean the rifle really good before heading to the range and I did leave the bipod on it as I used it while mounting my scope.  I just had to try it to see what would happen.  I did not notice any change wether i was using it or not.  The only thing about the rifle I did notice that after about 4-5 shot I had to let the barrel cool because it starting shooting low.  I just let her cool and boy she started shooting again.  I can't wait to really start experimenting with different loads and see just how accurate I can shoot this rifle.   Yes I'm addicted already.

That'll do Handi.

You'd be just as happy if it cost twice as much!

Congratulations! ;)   How's the recoil?

Congrats and thanks for the range report. I'm going to pick up some of the same ammo to use in mine and hope it does as good as yours.

Recoil is about the same as my son's Marlin 30/30  but then I'm not very recoil sensitive I don't think.    I does move around alot after the shot if holding very free but it doesn't wallop you hard at all.

I've found as far as the loads I was shooting the same brand and load shoot really great out of my sons 30/30.  I'm really sold on this cheap ammo.   A dead deer doesn't care if it cost 10 dollars or 30 dollars a box.
