Rings, The final Frontier...
« on: October 06, 2007, 04:50:30 PM »
So I looked through the Best Rings... Post, and I'm still a little confused... Medium, high, very high... So confused. I'm looking to scope my Ultra Hunter and need rings. I'm a simple man, looking for a simple answer. Links would be helpful. I have a Bushnell Sportsman. Thanks for any help.

I have a Burris Sportsman.

Do you mean a Bushnell Sportsman? If so, unless it's a fixed power scope, you'll likely need high rings due to the large power ring, medium will work if you modifiy the hammer slightly. The pic below is a Banner, has the same power ring as the Sportsman, I think, the rings are medium Burris Signature Zees, the hammer has been modified per the FAQs low profile hammer mods. If you can mount the scope further back so the hammer is in front of the power ring, you may be able to use lower rings, but eye relief may become an issue.
