Howie:  Contrats on the pig and the lease.  My lease is in Stephens county near Breckenridge.  Had a few hogs out there, but haven't seen much lately.  (Maybe they all went over to your place). :)   With all the storms this past week, I really need to get out there and check on hail damage to my camper (just patched a roof leak last week) and check tracks, too.

Regards,
Dennis In Ft Worth

Seeing more pigs
« Reply #3 on: June 16, 2003, 04:27:46 AM »
Howie, now that we are getting some rain, I have begun to see the pigs moving on my Waller county lease.  Had more than a dozen in the trap last Monday afternoon and as many outside the trap.  Have a few for the smoker now, as the heaviest was aroung 60#.  Perfect for smoking whole.  Gonna be good eating.

Only one other guy on the lease has killed a pig of any size since last Oct, and he tossed that one in the creek.  I have now trapped over 50 this year and have given a number of them away.  Some folks just don't know whats good do they?

it is the best start to a year of trapping I've ever had on this place.  Now most of them have been small smoker size with a few large sows and boars thrown in.  I have gotten to where I really prefer to trap the smaller ones.  They are really good eating and a couple of hours on the smoker makes for a great meal or two.  Nothing in there yesterday,  but they will be back.
