Six more days, and I'm off to moose camp.

Six more days, and I'm off to moose camp.
Wish me luck.
It's not a terrible long journey for me, in fact, the start of the ATV trail is about 45 minutes from where I sit, and the ATV drive is only another 45.
That's assuming the beavers have been friendly, and we don't have to much cutting, or pond fording to do.
If I don't see any moose, I'll try for a black bear.
Happy hunting!

I'm pulling out saturday in the AM as well for my gun hunt.  So far two bow hunts have produced no game but great times in both.  I plan to keep my eyes open for a trophy bear as well.
Hunting is Exciting!  Bolt actions are BORING!!
Don't mix the two!

Well, I just got off the phone, apparently, the OPP chopper has been circling about ten miles south of our camp. Big grow op was found accidentally by a group of hunters, and a group of Ministry contractors.
From what I hear, both groups were kidnapped by hooded and well armed men.
Not sure how the police got involved, but, twelve armed men escaped into the bush.
Something new to hunt? I hope not!
On top of that, the water is so high over the road, the army truck is staying home this year. It will be ATV's and trailers all the way.
Best of luck Rick.

I'd heard the story, but there were no specifics.  If one of the hunters had defended himself with a gun, the Toronto Star would have reported it as another "gun crime" perpetrated on innocent drug growers my evil hunters.

"about ten miles south of our camp"

Would that be west of Minden?  I used to cottage south and west of Minden.

Best of luck on your hunt as well.

Ten miles south of our camp would put it somewhere along the Scotch Line road, almost due west of Minden.

Our hunt was not successful but we saw lots of stuff we didn't have tags for.

The works of us had a hell of a good time, and that's what it's really about.
