45 Gov. Bullets

Has anyone tried using a 45/70 405gr. 500, 0r the 535 Postel bullets {lead} in a sabo in there 50 pro hunter muzzle loader? Nim

The 45/70 bullets measure .458 and the sabot rounds for a .50 cal that are made for .45 caliber bullets take a .451/.452 diameter bullet. I tried stuffing one of the .458 bullets in a sabot and it was just too tight.

I have not used the .458 45-70 bullets, but you can do it. Here is a link to MMP sabots. They make an orange one for the .458 bullets.
