Hunting in residential neighborhood
« on: October 11, 2007, 10:16:49 AM »
Hello,

Does anyone have experience hunting feral hogs in a residential neighborhood with bow and arrow?

Here is the setting:  Katy, Tx...suburb of Houston.  The house sits next to a bayou.  The hogs use the bayou as a transit corridor to get into the neighborhoods and root up landscaping.

Does anyone know if it is legal to hunt the  hogs since it is in a residential neighborhood?  The site we will shoot from has no chance of hitting any houses.

Who should you contact to find out a definitive answer concerning this?  The local city police?  Fish and Game?  We have tried F&G and they were not really helpful.

Thanks,

Matt

If hunting is allowed in your county,  Harris, Waller, and Fort Bend all have hunting seasons listed in the 2007-2008 Outdoor Annual Hunting and Fishing Regulations, then it would be up to city ordinances. I seriously doubt that the TPWD can or will track you local ordinances.

I think the question would actually be whether they allow shooting in the city limits. I don't think they could allow target practice with a bow, but ban hunting with one.
