need load advice for 90 grain 270
« on: October 11, 2007, 04:59:17 PM »
I want to load some 90 grain hollow points for my 270 for coyotes and am wondering if anyone has had good luck with any particular load?  I am new to reloading so not to sure if I should just pick a load that look good out of the manual and try it or what.

My 270 likes the 90 gr Sierra HP & shoots it to about the same point of aim as my hunting loads.  If you want a little extra speed, use the faster powders like 4320 or 4064.  Modest loads give me about 3300+ fps out of my model 700 Rem. You can make them go faster, but I never thought it necessary.  I have used "normal" 270 powders like 4831or RL 22, and a case full results in velocities around 3000 fps, or a bit less.  Accuracy was still good to excellent.
