Sticky Hornady slugs?
« on: October 12, 2007, 06:07:02 AM »
Hi,

I've shot Lightfield slugs out of my ultra slug hunter & they ejected every time. ( I had a real bad experience with this ammunition in very cold temperatures here in Ohio )

The Hornady slugs shoot great but sometimes stick in the chamber.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Hopefully Hornady has tested their ammunition over temperature.

Thoughts?

Thanks, Goss

You can increase ejector efficiency by removing the ejector, polishing the raceway and ejector, then insert a BB ahead of the spring before you install the spring, lube and install the ejector, R&R info can be found in the Centerfire FAQs and Help sticky.

I shot about four boxes of the Hornadys SST from my USH with no problem, but not in cold weather. I got tired of chasing empties and loaded rounds everywhere and did the Ejecter to Extractor Mod from the FAQ section. I like that much better.

I will be shooting the USH in Southern Ohio this gun season so maybe I can report on the cold wearher effect on the shells.
