High tech. wind direction indicator.
« on: October 12, 2007, 01:25:57 PM »
Saw an ol' Indian pull that wad of cotton out of his bottle of vitamin pills and put it in his pocket. That wad of cotton takes up no space in the pocket. Followed him around for days until the secret was revealed. He was sitting in his ground blind deer hunting on a very calm day. He pulled that cotton ball out of his pocket and pinched off a tiny bit of cotton, maybe the size of a milkweed seed and let it drift off his hand. The drifting "Seed" indicated the wind direction even though it was very calm.

Those ol' Indians know all the tricks.

My favorite method is to use the fluff of  cattails. Just a tiny pinch will be gone with the wind. You can watch the way the thermal takes it and know your scent is following the same pattern.
Will hunt for food.

Same idea in pretty much any environment... even in the desert, you got the sand... just watch where it lands in comparison to your hand.  little pieces of leaves...  dandelions...  fireweed...  even a little spit off your finger...
"At least with a gun that big, if you miss and hit the rocks in front of him it'll stone him to death..."
