Remington SPR18 in 7.62x39??

Anyone have any experience with this rifle? I want a single shot in this caliber, but understand the Handie won't shoot the cheap suplus rounds. I wonder how the rifle will handle them? My mental vision is this rifle with a Simmons Prodiamond would be an inexpensive combo to shoot & maybe hunt with.

There's a fairly extensive thread on that variant here.
Short version, it has a hard time with military-grade primers.  I've got one I'm trying to "improve" at the moment.
