I would not recommend any of these scopes, even the Simmonds is a bottom of the line choice. Save a little more and get at least a Bushnell Banner or Trophy. I'd also suggest checking Midsouth Shooters, SWFA, and Natches for prices. I've never found a price in Sportsmans Guide I couldn't beat elsewhere. Other than the really wierd junk only they carry. Do some more shopping and see if you could scrape together another $20-$30 that would get you into a better scope for a little $ differance. I'm very familiar with having to budget the money, but I don't want you to make a $50 mistake.

Dawno,

Dave375 gave good advice.  You are going to need at least $100 or close to it to get something workable.  Natchez shooter has a Hunter wicked optics 3-9x40 on sale for $99.  Not many people know much about them, but I have two and they compare favorably to Mueller, Burris, and Bushnell with I also own.  A lot of folks are really liking the Pentax gameseeker 3-9x40 for about the same money.

You could up the money 4 or 5 times and get a Leupold, but IMHO you won't get a 5x's greater scope.

Why  go  cheap on the Optics? If you  can't see it you  can't hit it. I bought cheap  scopes for years. With that money  wasted i  could have just  bought a good one and been done with it. Look  for Quality  optics with a good warranty buy 1 and be done.
