Looking for gunsmith to do checkering..
« on: October 15, 2007, 02:05:03 AM »
Thinking of getting a Richards microfit stock, but really want to have it checkered.
Any personal experience with someone who does checkering would be appreciated.  Not looking for anything fancy, just something similiar to the Rem CDL type of checkering.

This will probably go on a Stevens 200 25-06, that seems to have some flyers, I think, due to the factory stock.  And BTW, I may get the gunsmith to quote a dual pillar job while he has it.  Or I may attempt that myself.

thanks,
Deerandduck

I would get the stock fitted and the rifle shooting as you need before the checkering. Glass bedding is a great way to tighten the fit of an action/barrel to the stock. The pillars simply space the bottom metal and action apart and remove stress on the wood in between.. If you're interested in a checkering job just drop me a private message.
