DEC can and will help you.
« on: October 15, 2007, 06:09:41 AM »
I purchased my License online this year. Everything was going fine until I applied for my doe permits. Well I'll admit to this I might have been a little negligent in this matter for not paying closer attention to what I was doing. Anyway I wanted to apply for areas 9M &9T. I inadvertantly hit 8M &9T. When I hit the submit button a pop up box came asking me to verify the selection. I immediately seen the mistake then click the no or cancel box. When I got back to the original selection box I clicked on the down arrow to open the selection chart. The next thing I know another box pops up saying you have been selected for area 8M and rejected for 9T. ???

The next morning I called the DEC office in Buffalo and explained what happened. They gave me another number in Albany to call. I explained what happened to the lady in Albany and she said hold for a minute. She came back took my information and instructed me to return the 8M permit when my license arrived. She said she would reapply my 9M choice into the lottery system with no guarantee of a permit. Well I did. She gave me her name and address so it went right to her desk.  Much to my surprise within a week I had a permit for 9M and a letter thanking me for being patient in this matter and good luck in the upcoming deer season. I thought that was pretty decent.  :)

You are quite correct - DEC can and will help you.  They helped me recently and I am grateful, even though it is their job.

I went to my local wally-mart for my license.  It is all computerized and pretty quick.  However, the kid behind the counter did not know how to handle a landowner's permit (for a doe tag) and botched my application, giving me only a buck tag with my Sportsman's License.  I had to call En-Con to get my doe tag and they were very helpful.  They asked for some information from my last tax bill and told me the permit would be in the mail that afternoon - I received it two days later and I consider that pretty good service.  Mikey.
