CZ 527 Question

I went to the gunshow in KC, MO this past weekend and saw some new CZ 527's with flush magazines and normal, rounded trigger guards (not squared off in front to mate with the rear surface of the magazine). They look WAY better than the older style protruding ones.

I used to do some loading for a friend who had a 527 in .22 Hornet and he constantly complained about the magazine being so short in length that we had to seat the bullets deeper than he wanted them. He finally got rid of the rifle.

I was wondering if anybody knew if the new flush magazines are any longer than the old protruding ones?

Inquiring minds want to know. (I shoulda looked at them closer but I was drooling on a couple of CZ 550's with beautiful wood.)

Well NOW you tell me.....got my son and I each one last yr in 204.....but I would not trade, or sell, at any price.......they both shoot amazingly ......I'm sold

Ok, I talked to CZ and to Keith (the dealer I mentioned in my post, above), and here is the skinny. The flush mag is available, at present, only in the 527 American, and only in .223 Rem chambering.

The new mag is a shorter version of the normal 5-shot mag and is still detachable, and still a single-stack configuration. The capacity, according to Keith is three rounds, but according to the person I talked to at CZ is two rounds. I tend to believe Keith, since he was holding one in his hand while I talked to him on the phone.

The trigger guard is rounded on the front and doesn't have the triangular guide plates on either side of the magazine well.

Another interesting fact I learned: The rifling twist of the Kevlar stocked Varminter version of the .223 Rem cal 527 is 1 in 9", but the twist of all other .223 527's is 1 in 12".

I believe the 22 Hornet magazine has a simple plastic spacer that can be removed to accept longer cartridges.

And Roy not only does an excellent conversion - he's a great guy to deal with !

Thanks for doing my Hornet a few years ago, Roy - when I drove the bottom metal over to your place & dropped it off.

As I've mentioned previously - Roy's rework cannot be differentiated from factory issue.
The mag get shorter and the TG webs go bye-bye, with an invisible TG touchup.

Another "thumbs-up" for the job that Roy does...he did my .223 trigger guard, and magazine...absolute perfection!!
