What rings for CZ 550 Safari?
« on: October 18, 2007, 03:27:17 PM »
I need to buy some scope rings for my CZ 550 Safari .375 H&H and I'm having trouble deciphering Leupold's, Talley's and Burris' web sites. I can figure out which models fit my rifle.

Help!

jobyjob...I know that Talley and Warne make rings for the CZ's and Brno's...I don't think Burris or Leupold do how ever...At lest as far as I know...CZ also makes rings and so does Lynx....I can't seem to find the Lynx rings any more but they used to be listed in the Brownell's catalog...They Lynx rings where the best price and not bad rings...I have a set for my CZ 527
cheers,
Mic

They ALL offer models that fit your rifle. What scope, in particular, are you trying to mount?

I tried Millet -- usually not bad rings.  Didn't work well.  I tried CZ rings -- worked perfectly.  My reading is that rings are a little problematical... may need to try a few models.

Only accurate rifles are interesting.

My sense is the rail is not quite right on my rifle.  The Millet rings sat right on the rails, pulled down firmly by the clamps they way they ought.

The mount alignment did not hold the scope axis low enough; could not get the group up to the bull.

The CZ rings pinch into and align on the slots on the side of the rails.  They do not sit on top of the rails firmly (you can see a little light under them).  The mounts put the bull at 100 yrds within range, with enough verticle range to zero at 200 if I like.

I don't feel it is a fault of Millet -- just quirky rifle.  I have read of a number of folks having problems with different rings; my sense is its best to try a few and see if any work.
