N.M. ELK HUNT

Well i am back from the hills, no elk
South of Cimarron, N.M.
this is beautiful country looks like their would be an elk behind every bush.
33-35 at nite 75-80 in the day time, to hot i guess, went as high as 9000 ft
lots of old sign. lots of fresh bear and cat sign.
Will try again next year.

I used to see elk farther north up around Raton or Chama. But that was 30 years ago.

Hope you had fun at least. I looked at the map doesn't look like there is any forest service land in that area. I haven't hunted that far north. I usually hunt unit 15 or 44/45. Lots of elk there.

usually lots of elk in unit #48, had lots of bow hunters this year.
two days before season opened we saw a lot of elk just across the road, 2 huge bulls and 4-5 smaller. will try again next year if i draw out
