Savage pump shotgun?

Hello,

Got a freebe from my Aunt. We found my late Uncle's 12 gauge up inside the unused fireplace. It is labeled Springfield, Savage model 67H. It is a late 60s model I would guess from memory. Its been up there for at least ten years. It is polishing up very nicely and is very serviceable. I'm refinishing it. However...I cannot get the barrel out of the receiver. I've never seen a pump that the barrel didn't come off of. Could this be an exception or is it just really stuck? Is there a particular "trick" with this model. Thanks for the help and God Bless. The screw located at mid barrel came out easily and I already took out the spring and tube. All other screws have come out nicely and there is nothing more than mild surface rust that I can see.

You either need to find an owners manual or get a book on disassembly. Start removing screws and such may not be a good thing. Make sure you know what you are doing.
It's cheap insurance.

  The Stevens 67/77 series shotguns are not takedown actions.  If you want to remove the barrel you'll need a barrel vise and make up an action wrench to unscrew the receiver from the barrel.  They are fit up much like a bolt action rifle, i.e., screwed into the receiver with a relatively heavy torque at the end to align barrel and receiver.  Typically, the barrel wouldn't be removed for rebluing .  Polish the two together, same as you would a lever gun or bolt rifle.
